I went to see Tessa and Mckenna today at the hospital. Both are doing great. It took Tessa about 20 minutes to talk me into picking Mckenna up and handing her over to her. She was so small that I was scared to touch her. So, as I'm lifting her up by her ankles (Just kidding). Hey, I didn't drop her so I'm pretty proud of myself.

Blogging Videos

So now I'm tinkering with making and blogging Videos. We recently purchased a Sony DVDirect burner to capture DVD playable video for Tina's National Certification, but I have also been playing around with the software it came with and creating family slideshow videos that I will share on the blog now that I have discovered "YouTube" . You have seen most of the pictures already, but it is fun, so I don't care. I will post them as they are completed.

The video below is not very exciting, but I needed something to practice posting on the blog. Last Sunday a group of us drove to Oakland for the Raiders vs Cardinals game. They finally won a game, but the highlight of the day was seeing John Madden there to recieve his Hall Of Fame ring. Jim Otto and Gene Upshaw were both there as well. It was worth the trip. We took this video during warm-ups using a digital camera. The clip is short and the quality is not great, but at least it helped me figure out how to post videos on the blog.

Sunriver Vacation

Tina, Boni, Terry and I spent July 23rd thru July 29th in Sunriver, Oregon. If you have never been there, I highly recommend it. We spent the week Mountain Biking, Geocaching, Rafting, Golfing, Sight Seeing, Shopping and Eating!! It was a great week and we would have liked to stay longer.

Russ and I went to SouthFork Res. last weekend to try and catch the BIG BASS. The temperature hit around 100F so we medicated ourselves with sunblock and Bud light. Fishing was slow and we didn't get the BIG one, but I thought I would share a few pics anyway.

We hope everyone had a very Happy Easter. I was going to make a few phone calls, but to be honest I got lazy and didn't do it. Tina cooked a prime rib Saturday and made a killer chocolate bread pudding for desert. It's no wonder I can't lose any more weight.

Sunday was spent pretty much just lounging, watching movies and watching the
snow fall. We watched Walk the line ( second time for me) and it was just as good the second time.

We also watched Wedding Crashers. I wasn't overly excited about watching this one, but it turned out to be pretty hilarious.

Our bathroom is coming along and will hopefully be done this week. The tile is all in and looks very nice. Tina is going to paint Wednesday and the Vanity, toilet and shower door still need to be installed. I will hopefully have some pictures posted before I go to Montreal.

Went to Pyramid Sunday with Brian and his daughter Alex. Fishing was pretty good, we caught about 13 trout in the 3 hrs we were on the water. No monsters, but all of them were pretty decent between 16" and 20". Red and white dare devils were working pretty well. I was having pretty good luck with the watermelon colored spoon. I miss my boat!!

Hmmm.....What do I have to Blog about?

Sorry for the lack of Blogging, but I have been suffering from a major case of bloggers cramp.
From the look of some of the other family blogs out there I am not the only one either.
Life has been somewhat routine as it gets when the weather is cold, but spring is near and I will attempt to try and catch everyone up on anything that I feel is any of your business. (kidding)
Okay, here we go. Hold on to your seats because you're about to journey on a thrill ride. (kidding again...)

The most excitement for me the last couple of months has been playing Texas Holdem. There are about 12 of us who have started getting together once a month for poker party's. We started this in February and have had two party's so far. Only about half of us play, but it has been fun getting together and having drinks, eating good food and playing bad poker. I've even gone as far as buying a poker table and a large set of poker chips for the party's we hold at our house. Sad but true.

The opening of the new mall in south Reno, as you can imagine has made Tina gleam like a kid at Christmas. Her Mom came down and they had a great time participating in their favorite sport. I actually went with her myself last weekend. The mall is nice and she will probably be known on a first name basis within a month. (kidding)

Tina and I found our dream home a few months back. We have been back several times and will likely stop in again just to say hello. We have decided to wait however; and stay put for awhile. Since we are staying where we are, we decided to put new windows in and remodel the upstairs bathroom. I will try and post the progress of the bathroom as it is done. I sure wish somebody else out there would post pics of their new bathroom (hint..hint) I've seen it and it turned out great.

The Wolf Pack basketball team had a great year again winning the WAC Tournament and making it into the NCAA tournament for the 3rd year in a row. Our March Madness was cut short this year however; when Montana beat the Pack 87-79 in round one of the NCAA Tournament.
That was sad. Believe it!!

I'm off to Montreal April 26th thru the 30th for our annual sales convention. Not much exciting to say about it. The traveling and Montreal is fun, but the convention is pretty typical.

Well, that's about all we are up to these days. We are still working out and cheating every chance we get. I am currently stuck on a loss of 14lbs, actually I think I gained a couple of pounds back so it's more like 12 pounds. We are looking forward to warmer weather and hope that you are all doing well. SUPERBOWL SABOTAGE

I hope everyone had a great Superbowl Sunday. I really wanted the hawks to take it this year and shut the east coast up for awhile. My diet was sabotaged with chips, dips, salami & cheese, chocolate and Tina made all kinds of goodies including BBQ ribs, chicken wings, spinach and cheese pastries and mini lemon cakes. Oh, and Kelly & Wendy brought over beer. Needless to say I gained back two pounds Sunday. It was worth every bite and every beer. Other than the fact that the hawks lost.

Not Just A New Years Resolution!!

Hi All~

I decided since everyone updated their blogs I should take a turn.
Nothing overly exciting has been happening at our end. Tina and I have been working on getting in better shape since the beginning of the year. So far I have lost 10 lbs since January 10. We are exercising daily and watching what we eat a bit closer without totally depriving ourselves. So far it is working quite well.
I have about 28 more pounds that I want to lose before my next birthday, so as long as I stick with it, I should have no problem. I have started a "Weight Loss War" in the office and there are about five of us participating in it. I found a great website called Weightlosswars.com which allows all players to log there weekly weight, daily exercise minutes etc. It is definitely motivating when you know people are checking up on you. We have all agreed to put $20.00 in the pot and the "Biggest Loser" wins the cash. I have also hired a live in trainer. Her name is Maya. Ok, so she's animated, but she definitely works your butt off. It is a new program that is out on PS2 and Xbox called Yourself Fitness. I like it because it tracks and creates your workouts and the workouts are never the same each night. Maya also knows when you skip a day and chews your butt for not showing up to exercise.

Anyway, that is about all we are up to at the moment. I'm glad you are all doing well and hope to talk to you or see you soon!

I can't believe Thanksgiving and Christmas are already upon us. Tina has been making me dizzy with her running around. She is one busy girl getting ready to host Thanksgiving dinner, Kelly and Wendy's engagement party on Dec. 17 & she has already finished her and most of my Christmas shopping. Steven says "Hello"

As some of you may already know, Aerosmith has been and always will be my favorite Rock band of all time. Hence the title of my blog " A Little South of Sanity" which was the title of one of their 1998 albums. The title also seems to fit marriage in general so I stole it for our blog title.

Due to circumstances beyond my control. Mainly a cancelled flight from Phoenix to Boston and my plane in Dallas being given to a group of people flying to Miami to catch a cruise ship. It took me 18 hrs to get to Boston on Sunday.

At 12:30 a.m as I am standing at baggage claim and chatting with Tina on the phone, I look next to me and tell Tina, "Guess who I am looking at right now?"

Strangely, I wasn't overly excited about it. It must have been due to lack of sleep or the long trip. I did walk over to Steven and I said "Hello Steven!" and shook his hand and chatted for a second. I then asked him if he wouldn't mind saying hello to my wife who was on the phone. Steven smiled as he took my cellphone and said; "Hello Wifey" and chatted with Tina for a minute. I thanked him, shook his hand again and went on my way to find my bag.

It wasn't until the next morning that I realized just how cool that was and how cool he was to take the time to talk to Tina on the phone, which thrilled her and kept her from sleeping the rest of the night.

That was the beginning of my Boston adventure. The rest of my week was informative and fun, but that was hard to beat. I will post a few pics that I took in my next post. Most all of my night shots didn't turn out at all, but I'll see what I have.

Boston Bound

On October 2, I will be off to Boston, MA for one week of product training. As a reseller for Thermo-Electron Corporation myself and five others from various branches have been chosen to become "Titration Experts" for our company.

Man, I almost fell asleep just typing that.

The classes are sure to be a yawner as I am very familiar with chemical titration from working at both Hycroft Resources and Barrick Goldstrike.
Of course back then we used to titrate chemicals
using the old colorimetric method. This method
was much more fun than sucking solution through a tube and having the results print out on your computer. At least you felt like you were doing basic chemistry then and had to actually calculate the results yourself. Okay, so now days, with Automatic Titrators, you can analyze about 50 times as many samples in the time it took you to run one the old way, but it's still not as much fun.

Anyway, the classes are sure to be long and boring. I am looking forward to going however;
I've always wanted to see this part of the country
and I couldn't ask for a better time to go with the
fall foliage this time of year.

Fremont Cannon Returns to Reno

After 5 years without our cannon, UNR finally brings the Fremont cannon home Saturday night with a 22-14 victory over the Running Rebels.

"For over 30 years Nevada has had a north vs. south civil war in college
football. This is not a friendly rivalry as fans from both schools have become
verbally and physically violent over the state prize, an exact replica of the
historical mountain howitzer cannon that Captain John C. Fremont towed on his
expedition of the West from 1843 to 1844. The replica was originally appraised
at over $10,000 in 1969."

Now that it is home where it belongs, let's hope it stays here for awhile.

Hard to believe it has been 20 years, but it has.

I received my 20 year Highschool reunion invitation in the mail yesterday. It takes place in October 2005. It will be nice to see the old friends that I haven't seen in 10 to 20 years.

It looks like I'm flying solo as Tina is not into Highschool reunions. I wonder if she will change her mind once she comes to the realization that I will be getting together with one of the hardest partying classes of LHS history. I doubt it, she knows we are all geriatric now and I can't stay awake past 11:00 pm.

"PARTY AT THE PITS!" is replaced with "Mixer at the Bowling Alley"

"HOUSE PARTY!" will be replaced with " The 2005 LHS Homecoming Game"

"BURGER AT THE KONE!" is this years "Dinner at Las Margaritas."

"CRUISING MAIN!" will take place atop the "Class of 85 Alumni Float" entered in the "2005 Lowry Homecoming Parade."

"LEFT OVER PIZZA AND HALF A CAN OF WARM BEER AS YOU ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE THE HELL YOU ARE!" has progressed into "A continental breakfast at Albert Lowry Highschool, including a tour of the campus."

Hmmm...... Maybe I should stay at home and cuddle with my prom date.

Internet Cafes Rock!

Found an internet Cafe at our hotel so I wanted to shoot out a blog to let everyone know that everything is great!
Hotel is awesome, weather is perfect, the trip went without a hitch. 1.5 hours from Reno to Phoenix and then another 1.5 hour flight into Cabo San Lucas. We went into town yesterday and Tina had a ball shopping. We lined up a 28ft boat just for ourselves tomorrow and a sunset dinner cruise for monday or tuesday. We had to agree to a 1hr tour of the resort we are staying at, but the discounts were worth it. $300.00 for an 8 hr fishing trip when you don't have to share the boat is worth it to me. I hope I get a good picture of Tina hauling in a Blue Marlin in her pink fishing hat we bought yesterday. This place is well worth the trip and I know we will want to come back, I love it here!
The only negatives here are the time share salesmen and dope dealers, they are everywhere downtown. They do know what "NO" means however and are apologetic and you only have to say it once to the dope dealers, the salesmen have to be told a couple times. " You need pot or coke?" " No thanks!" " Okay, Sorry!"
Actually we only got approached by two dope dealers and about 3 time share salesmen yesterday. I guess I can live with that.

A FISH STORY

This was a pretty interesting story from The Sunday Wichita Eagle Newspaper a few weeks ago. A resident in the area saw a ball bouncing around kind of strange in a nearby pond and went to investigate. It turned out to be a flathead catfish who had obviously tried to swallow a child's basketball which became stuck in its mouth!!
The fish was totally exhausted from trying to dive, but unable to because the ball would always bring him back up to the surface. The resident tried numerous times to get the ball out, but was unsuccessful. He finally had his wife cut the ball in order to deflate it and release the hungry catfish.

Corn Cobb Chronicles

Jake crawled away, Stupid turtle!

I threw my back out July 2nd and have been walking around like I have a corn cobb stuck up my butt ever since. The Doctor thinks it is a slipped disk and is treating me for it. Hopefully I will be recovered by July 21.

Nye Hall is doing a remodel and are giving away 6' H x 4' W x 2'D cabinets. Tina and I hauled three of them back to the house (hurt my back again) put shelves in them and put them in the garage for storage. I'd like to get a couple more.

Our Dryer vent totally clogged and Tina crawled under the house and replaced about 20' of vent hose because I couldn't crouch and crawl under due to the corn cobb. I did help out by saying "LOOK OUT FOR THAT BIG RAT!!" and I took a couple of pictures of her.

Kelly had a BBQ on the 4th and it was a good weekend all in all, Derek and Katie even made it, which was nice because we haven't seen them in awhile. I stayed away from the Corn on the Cobb.

Lets see, what else is happening? I can't get excited about going to Cabo because I'm freaked out that I won't be able to do anything. I guess that's about it.

I'm really looking forward to Monday as Derek and Katie are planning on coming to the BBQ. We haven't seen them much, so it should be fun. I noticed my camera has a fireworks mode. I promise not to bore you with firework photos, but if I get some decent pics at the BBQ I will be sure and post a few. I will be traveling back to Vancouver, BC on June 14th for a seminar. While we are there the guys want to go to Grouse Mountain and hike "The Grind" which is a 1.8-mile climb, with an elevation gain of 2,760 feet. I am clearly in no shape to do this, but refuse to be ridiculed and taunted. This may be my last post and I will miss all of you deeply. If by miracle I make it, I will post a few pictures. I can already feel all the beer caps and copenhagen lids over the years surfacing. Hack! Hack! Wish me luck!

Finally, with a 3 day weekend ahead of us we are going to take a run to the muck for a visit. It has been since December since we have been there. Shame on us for that one!!

Last Saturday Tina and I hopped in the wagon and "headed west".
Other than stopping at "Old Town Auburn" we really didn't have a plan or care, we just wanted to get out of the house for the day. We pulled into Auburn and had lunch and walked around checking out all the old buildings which are now antique shops, gift shops, restaurants and there are a couple of bars there. We then took highway 49 South which was a very windy, beautiful drive that took us through Coloma. In or around Coloma is "Sutters Mill"
which is the place gold was discovered in 1848. After stopping and checking out the old mill replica, we continued into "Placerville (Old Hangtown)" We passed by an old saloon called hangman's Saloon which I found out later was a spot where a hanging tree stood and people where hung. I really should read about places before I visit, but we really didn't know we would end up there anyway. We drove East from there on highway 50 through Lake Tahoe and headed for home after stopping at the Cattlemens Steakhouse for a nice Prime Rib dinner. It was a good day and nice to get out for a change. Driving through the old CA goldrush towns were pretty cool, next time I will have to read up so we can plan our stops and get a better feel of the past. I would like to check out some of the Donner Party sites as well.

Hello all –

Sorry it has been so long since I last posted on here! Life gets pretty routine sometimes.
I hope everyone had a “hoppy” Easter!! Tina cooked a very delicious prime rib dinner and then we went on a hunt of our own. Geocaching, ever heard of it? Well for those of you who don’t know this, there are hundreds of thousands of them hidden all over the world. They are a fun way to get out of the house and many of them are as close as your own backyard. You should know however; that if you think you are going to find anything of value with these hidden treasures you are greatly mistaken. We found several of them less than a mile from our house. This sport was created as a game to use with your GPS navigation system and has grown worldwide. To find the “caches” nearest you, or to check it out, go to http://www.geocaching.com/ print out the coordinates and clues of the “caches” you want to go after, then get off the couch and get out there. I probably won’t make a big habit out of this because I’m pretty lazy, but it is kind of fun. They range in size from a film canister to an Ammo box. The larger “caches” contain small trinkets (If you take something, leave something). The contents range from golf balls, small toys etc. so remember the fun is in finding it, not profiting from it. Although Tina’s brother did find a brand new dog collar in one of them.
I read about a multi-cache in the Winnemucca area that takes you on a historical tour and lands you at the Winnemucca Hotel for a “Picon”. That one sounded pretty fun. Anyway, I thought I would share this with you in the event that you can’t find anything on television and just wanted to get out of the house. If you get real ambitious, some of them may take you on a pretty good hike so make sure and check the difficulty and terrain ratings on the website.

Oh by the way, if you find a travel bug, only take it if you are planning on leaving it at another cache. These are not for anyone to keep. They travel from country to country, cache to cache.

Hi all!!

I haven't posted in awhile so I thought I better update. Not much happening here other than the usual routine. Get up, Shower, Kiss the wife, Kick the dog, stub the toe, curse, drive to work, work, drive home, kiss the wife, kick the dog, stub the toe, curse, eat dinner, watch TV, kiss the wife, go to sleep, hit snooze, get up...... you get the idea.
Saturday we are going to the ESPN Bracket Buster at Lawlor to watch the UNR Basketball team kick some more butt, so that should be fun. When that's over we will drive to Dayton to watch Tinas cousin Alicia play in a Basketball tournament. Saturday will be a basketball kind of day. Tinas other cousin Christian (Alicias brother) broke his ankle earlier this week playing basketball and is in town as well to see the doctors. I don't know the full details, but its not good. Sounds like it is more than just a simple break and will need surgery. Poor guy, he broke his elbow last year playing football. He's a pretty cool kid and I feel bad for him.
March 3 - 5 I will be in Vancouver for our budget meeting so I'm pretty excited about that.......Yea....I'm .....pretty.......excited.......
about.....that....pretty....darned.....excited.
I need a fishing trip or something I'm thinking...yea that sounds much better!
Dad sent me pics of his kitchen remodel, holes in the wall, cabinets taken out etc... I can't wait to see the finished kitchen. I'll try and post a pic or two as he sends them. He said as soon as things settle down he might start blogging, so that should be fun!
Anyway.......HEY WAKE UP!! I'M ALMOST DONE HERE!!!.....Thank you!

I started watching NFL Football very intensely about 19 years ago. I've been to 3 Raider games, One of which was in Seattle in Tsunami conditions. I loved every minute of every game despite the fact that the Raiders lost every game I went to and the fact that we almost drowned in Seattle.
I've hosted several Superbowl party's, driven hundreds of miles to watch the game with friends, been to house party's, Casino party's and Sports Bar party's every year for the past 19 years.
This year I watched the Superbowl alone in our basement. Tina was in the house working her butt off as she does most Sundays ( I did help clean the basement, I don't want you to think I'm a total schmo) and Max was laying on the floor, but I was alone, alone for my first Superbowl.
It sucked royally. Tina told me days ago to invite a few friends over, but did I listen? No,
I said " No, we can just have a quiet day at home this year."

It was a bummer this year.

Tina and I met Chad and Paige at Johnny Rockets lastnight and had a nice visit. They both look good and it was great to see them both. It sounds like other than their obnoxiously noisy neighbor ( see Paiges blog ;0) ) things are going well for them. We laughed a bit about how blogging is becoming our family's primary source of communication. Tina pretty much just shook her head because her family uses something called a telephone. Have you heard of it? It sounds oddly familiar to me, but I just can't quite put my finger on it. Great concept though!
Anyway, it was great to see them both and I am glad things are going well for them. I would have liked to have spent a little more time with them, but I know how it is to come back for a visit after moving away, it's a challenge to get everyone in. Good luck with that guys!

Holy Crap!! "WILL IT NEVER END!" I have been shoveling snow everyday for 2 weeks now. The first storm dumped around 2 to 3 feet of snow which started Dec. 30. On Friday, Jan. 7 round two hit us all weekend with another 18 inches. Today is Monday and the National weather service is calling for another 12" tonight. Tina has worked two days since Christmas break due to School closures which actually is kind of nice for me because when she gets bored, she cooks.
Sunday I shoveled snow in the morning for about an hour and a half then came inside to watch the playoffs. Tina cooked stuffed mushrooms, coconut shrimp, garlic shrimp, mini meatball subs, some sort of bread thing with shrimp on it, some cheese thingys, pickled asparagus, olives, & cookies. I'll never lose weight! This morning I broke our snow shovel in two, "No, I wasn't leaning on it!" Hopefully I will find a snow shovel somewhere. They are not easily obtained these days in the Washoe Valley areas. I read that the Vegas folks think its snowing there, that's not snow people, that's dust. You want snow? Come to Reno!

New Years Eve ( Not for the timid!)

New Years Eve was celebrated with Tina and I having a nice dinner at home. Around 7:30pm Tina took her Chocolate Santa and headed for the bedroom to read and watch some TiVo, she was out by 9:00pm. I on the other hand, Wild Man that I am, hit the streets of San Andreas, gunned down a few thugs, stole and wrecked countless sports cars, beat up and robbed a few old ladies. When I got bored with that I golfed a round with Tiger woods. PS2 you gotta love it!!
I knew it was midnight when Max hopped up on the couch and sat there quivering. He hates the sound of fire works!! I pondered the thought of going upstairs to watch the fireworks and maybe taking a couple of pictures but it was third and goal on the 8th yardline and I was about to take the lead!! Hey, the Raiders can't seem to win a game by themselves, so I thought what the hell, "Put me in coach!"

Well, I hope all is well with everyone and you all had a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Fa la la la la, la la la la.... Tina and I had a very nice visit in Winnemucca. It was nice to see everyone. We spent Christmas Eve eating and opening gifts at the Millers. Christmas morning we had breakfast at Dad and Bettes and had a very nice visit. We drove to Paradise Valley in the afternoon for Christmas dinner at her Uncle Garys ranch. Our visit was filled with way too much food, great people and more food. We did have one near tragedy when Mom took a header and fell down on Christmas eve-eve, Mom scraped up her knee and has a hairline fracture on her left wrist. The fact that I was walking her out when she fell has formed a pretty huge cloud of guilt over my head. I feel pretty fornunate that she was not hurt any worse. Tina went home Monday because Max the dog was scheduled to have a tumor removed from his leg. The surgery went well and the Dr. feels that he removed all of it. It was malignant, so we will just have to keep an eye on it. I stayed in Winnemucca until Wednesday to get more time in with Mom, Dad and Bette and to Visit more with Russ, Kyle and Yvette. Monday I went to see how Mom was doing, she is an amazingly tough hombre, but pretty sore. I spent Monday night watching football with Russ at the Red Lion. We had a few beers, ate bar munchies and watched football. Three of my favorite things to do.
Tuesday afternoon I had lunch with Mom and that evening Dad, Bette and I had a nice dinner at the Martin Hotel. I left for home Wednesday, got lazy and decided not to take the outside Christmas decorations down until later and woke up to three feet of snow the following day. Needless to say, I spent Thursday shoveling out Santa and his Reindeer. I can't remember the last time I've seen this much snow. It was fun the first day, now its getting old! I have a lot of pictures of the holiday and the snow, I just haven't figured out how to post pics on blog yet. Anyway, we had a great holiday, save not seeing Chad and Paige and my second cloud of guilt for not calling Troy, Lori and the Kids!! That's all for now!!

Its 11:12am and I need to kill a few minutes before my plane leaves. Pete, Jim, Wes and myself are all flying to Spokane for the Northwest Mining association Conference. We are going to meet with current and potential customers and we have a meeting with Anachemias mining division of which we are a part of. I'm really not looking forward to it. Its going to be a quick, cold trip. I think the highlight will be dinner at Clinkerdagger. I've heard nothing but how good this place is. Anyway, we fly back Friday afternoon. I think Tina is ready for a break though. Those of you who know me well, know I can be a smart-ass at the most inopportune times. I can't help it, its me and its my sense of humor. That's not the problem though. The problem is, I've been told, I can dish it out in bucket loads, but I can't take a spoonful. She's right and I hate that!! I got all butt hurt last weekend when she was giving me a little taste of my own medicine. Oh...Woe is meeeeeeee. Yea whatever!! Anyway, bumpy flight here I come!!

And so it begins! Chad and Paige have turned us onto something that I feel is quite useful and a great avenue in staying in the know of our loved ones. If that is not interesting enough to you, pry into peoples lives who you know nothing about. I guess that is my interpretation at this point. Anyway I'm sold on the idea! Will I ever get Tina turned onto the world of BlOg? I kind of doubt it, but we'll give it a try. I do know that my phone isn't ringing off the hook, and I'm either too busy or too lazy ( pick one) to keep in touch myself. Does that mean I'm not interested in my family's life? Noooooooo, it doesn't! So hopefully we can all get into this and jot a post down every now and again so that we are all up to date on each others lives and thoughts!
